You Don’t Have to Stay Stuck
If you’re here, you might be experiencing:
As a Couple:
Disconnection that's quietly grown—you love each other, but you're not really connecting anymore
Cycles of conflict or shutdown that keep repeating no matter how hard you try
Intimacy struggles—emotional distance, sexual disconnect, or feeling like roommates instead of partners
One partner's trauma is creating patterns that both of you feel stuck in
Communication breakdowns—you're speaking different languages and can't seem to bridge the gap
As an Individual:
Complex trauma or PTSD that won't let go—hypervigilance, anxiety, flashbacks, or emotional overwhelm that impacts everything
Relationship patterns you can't break—pushing people away, choosing unavailable partners, or struggling to trust
The weight of your past—childhood trauma, family dysfunction, or painful experiences that still shape your present
Feeling disconnected from yourself—numb, shut down, or like you're just going through the motions
Shame and self-criticism that keep you isolated and stuck
Maybe you've tried to "just fix it" or "move past it," but the patterns persist. These wounds and disconnections don't heal through willpower alone—they need compassionate, specialized care.
You're not broken. You're not too much. And healing is possible.
Specialized Therapy That Gets to the Root
I'm Tate Chang, a licensed therapist specializing in trauma-informed couples therapy and complex PTSD treatment. I create a safe, compassionate space where:
For Couples:
✓ We address the trauma underneath the conflict—because often, what looks like a communication problem is actually a nervous system responding to old wounds
✓ You learn to reconnect authentically—moving from cycles of pursue-withdraw or fight-shutdown to genuine intimacy and trust
✓ Both partners feel heard and valued—not blamed or pathologized, but understood in the context of your histories and attachment patterns
✓ You rebuild emotional and physical intimacy—creating safety for vulnerability, desire, and deep connection
For Individuals:
✓ We heal complex trauma at the root—using EMDR, somatic therapy, and attachment-based approaches that help your nervous system finally feel safe
✓ You understand your patterns—how trauma shaped your relationships, reactions, and sense of self—and learn to create new pathways
✓ You reconnect with yourself—moving from survival mode to actually living, from shame to self-compassion, from disconnection to authentic presence
✓ You break cycles—whether that's anxiety, people-pleasing, self-sabotage, or relationship patterns that no longer serve you
My approach centers on understanding how trauma lives in your body and relationships—not just talking about it, but actually healing it.

We meet via secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform (like Zoom for Healthcare or SimplePractice). All you need is a private space, reliable internet, and a device with a camera. Sessions feel just like in-person therapy—you'll see me, I'll see you, and we'll connect in real-time.
-
Yes. Research shows virtual therapy is equally effective for trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. Many clients actually prefer it because they feel more comfortable processing difficult emotions in their own space.
-
I'm an out-of-network provider, which means I don't bill insurance directly. However, I provide superbills you can submit for potential reimbursement. Many clients receive 50-80% back depending on their plan. I'm happy to discuss this during your free consultation. HSA and FSA cards are accepted.

It varies depending on your goals and what you're working through. Some clients see meaningful progress in 3-6 months, while deeper trauma work may take longer. We'll regularly check in on your progress and adjust as needed.
-
That's exactly what the free 15-minute consultation is for—to explore whether this feels like the right fit, with no obligation. You can ask questions, share what's going on, and see if my approach resonates with you.

Why invest in specialized trauma therapy?
Healing from complex trauma and rebuilding connection in your relationships isn't just about feeling better—it's about reclaiming your life and your relationships.
When you address the root causes of disconnection, anxiety, and relational patterns, you open up possibilities for:
Couples: Deep intimacy, emotional safety, genuine partnership, and a relationship that feels like home
Individuals: Freedom from hypervigilance, authentic relationships, self-compassion, and actually living instead of just surviving
This is an investment in breaking cycles that may have persisted for years—or even generations.
Your healing matters. You deserve support that's specifically designed for what you've been through.
Why I Do This Work
My journey to becoming a therapist was shaped by understanding trauma and disconnection firsthand—through cultural transitions, complex family dynamics, and my own healing journey. As a Korean immigrant who moved across 15+ countries, I learned early how trauma and attachment wounds shape our relationships and sense of self.
After transitions from corporate leadership to ministry to therapy, I've come to specialize in the places where trauma and relationships intersect—because healing doesn't happen in isolation. Whether you're working on your relationship with a partner or your relationship with yourself, the work is about creating safety, building connection, and learning to be authentically present.
I believe therapy should meet you where you are—in your pain, your confusion, your desire for something different—without pressure to have it all figured out or to "get better" on someone else's timeline.
Credentials:
